Alan passed away in the early hours of February 9, 2024 at Viking hospital at the age of 82 years with his family by his side. He was born July 19, 1941 to parents Louis and Jean.

Alan married Judy (Inkster) September 2, 1967 after meeting in Dawson Creek, BC. They lived in
Coleman where Alan resumed his career in banking, and moved to Edmonton in 1968 when Alan began a 40- year career with Public Trustee of Alberta.

Alan and Judy started a family in 1972 and moved to Sherwood Park to raise their 3 children; Everett, James and April. When the younger kids showed a keen interest in army cadets. Alan was commissioned as a lieutenant into the Cadet Instructors Cadre of the Canadian Armed Forces (1990). He took great pride and joy in years and youth he served, led and instructed in Sherwood Park, and later, Mill Woods. He retired from this role in 1998 at the rank of Captain. He would frequently speak of the memories made during these years, both in the field and on the parade square as many of his favorite. He was a positive influence on many young people during this time and was well respected by them.

Alan and Judy loved hiking and camping with their kids, and dogs in tents, trailers, and RV. They travelled from Yukon to the Oregon coast and from Saskatchewan to Vancouver Island together before retiring to their acreage at Viking, AB in 2006, where Alan enjoyed working part-time at the Home Hardware.

Alan will be dearly missed by his wife Judy, children and grandchildren: Everett, James (Tonet), Tristan, Martine, April (Tim Harkema), Aurora and Benjamin, and his newest furry friend, Frankie. He will also be mourned by his sisters Kay Murza (Nick dec.) and Janice (John Korner) and their children, and close friends Robert & Merle Taylor.

Alan will long be remembered for his caring and quiet respect for others, his work ethic and willingness and desire to share his knowledge and help others whenever he could. At Alan's request no service will be held. He will be remembered with an informal gathering at the acreage at a later date.
