Obituary

Annie passed away peacefully at Mary Immaculate Care Centre in Mundare at the age of 100 years.

Mom worked alongside Dad on a farm they purchased northeast of Bruce where they started their family. They bought the General Store in Bruce before the older children began school. Once again Mom worked alongside Dad for 38 years, finally selling the business and retiring in the community.

Family was important to Mom. She is survived and missed dearly by her daughters Carol (Dale) Knievel, Sandra (Hector) Campbell, Candise Koppel; sons Steven Koppel (Lucille), Stanley Koppel; grandchildren Kris Koppel, Tyler (Krysta) Koppel, Chelsey (Ted) Heyworth, Lori (Dave) Kindopp, Daniel (Tara) Koppel, Amanda Koppel (Jay), Graeme Campbell (Miscal), Catherine Koppel-Joosten; great-grandchildren Aaron Kindopp, Sophie Koppel, Carter Koppel, Finley Heyworth, Cael Kindopp, Isaiah Koppel, Chloe Koppel, Claire Koppel; sisters Rose Safranka, Frances Starzko; brother Sam Starzko; sisters-in-law Lorna Koppel, Duella Malley; brother-in-law Vernon Koppel; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Rudy Koppel; son Doug Koppel; grandson Scott Campbell; parents Frank and Nellie Starzko; sisters Katie Bracha, Jenny Hildingson; brothers Stanley, Peter and John Starzko; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the staff of Holden Lodge, Vialta Lodge, Viking Hospital, Tofield Seniors Lodge, Tofield Health Centre, and Mary Immaculate Care Centre for their kindness and care of our Mom.

You are invited to share memories of Mom’s life and condolences through this site. She touched the lives of many and will be forever missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

As per Mom’s wishes, the funeral mass is open to all who wish to attend at the Roman Catholic Church in Viking at 11 a.m. on July 31, 2026. Following mass, the interment at the Bruce Cemetery and luncheon at the Bruce Community Centre is for immediate and extended family only.
