Carolynne passed away peacefully in the Viking Hospital on September 20, 2026.

Born in Killam, Alberta on April 26, 1948 Carolynne was the youngest child and only daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth Horinek. The family moved to the family farm northeast of Kinsella in the fall of 1949. Carolynne attended school in Kinsella up to grade 9 then was bussed to Viking for grades 10 to 12. She married Fred Nordstrom on June 29, 1968. Carolynne worked as a bank teller until their daughter Robyn was born in 1975. Their son Steven was born in 1977 and she was a stay at home mom until they were well established and in school.

Carolynne then became a massage therapist and later worked as a sales consultant with yorkton group international out of Edmonton. She and Fred retired back to their home just outside of Viking in August of 2020 Carolynne loved people and easily made friends wherever she went. She lived in the moment and made time for others without reservation. Carolynne also loved animals, gardening (especially flowers), all sports her grandsons played and especially spending time with her family. When her only granddaughter arrived, her interest expanded to include dance and drama – especially musicals.

Carolynne will be deeply missed by her Husband Fred; her children Robyn (Shawn) and their children Shabyn (Brooklyn) Kaeden, Daniel and Janaea; And Steven (Simone) and their Children Tyler, Erik, Andrew and Ryan. Also Missing her are her Brother Duane (Clare), Brother in Law Carl ( Marlene), Sister in Law Heather (Ralph), nieces and nephews and children, as well as many wonderful friends.

A celebration of life for Carolynne will be held on October 12 (Thanksgiving Monday) at 2:00 PM at the Viking Alliance Church. The family had already planned a celebration of Fred’s 80th birthday at that time. Fred and Carolynne did everything together, so that will continue at the church as well.
