Floyd is survived by two sisters: Grace (Dan) Reister of Alliance, Gladys (Harry) Rusk of Carrot Creek; two brothers David McVige of Abottsford, B.C., Arnold (Sandra) McVige of Casselberry, FL; children: James McVig of Ryley, Ruth McVig (grand children: Markus and Richelle) of Edmonton and Nathan McVig of Edmonton; also many nieces and nephews. Floyd was predeceased by his Dad in 1964, Mother in 1998 and his oldest brother Roland in 1981.

Floyd, (Peanuts, nickname given to him by his dad) was born in Viking, Alberta and lived on and operated the family farm in Bruce all his life. He attended the Bruce School until grade 10 at which time, with the prompting of his dad, quit school and became a full time farmer. The home place has been in the Johnson/McVige family since 1910. He had a passion for farming and accomplished what even seemed the impossible. Many friends and neighbors have mentioned how Floyd was there for them in their time of need.

Arrangements are being made with the Viking Funeral Services Ltd., Earl & Rose Kjelland. Celebration of Floyd's life will be at the Bruce Community Centre, (former school), Bruce, Alberta, on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with interment immediately following the service at the Bruce cemetery. Lunch (provided by the Bruce Stampede ladies) and fellowship will follow at the Bruce Community Centre.
