Lorraine Gail Smith (nee: Edmunds)
April 27, 1942 – August 17, 2024
Gail
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother following many years of suffering from dementia. Gail passed away on Saturday, August 17th at the Bethany Harvest Hills long-term care home to join her loving husband, George who passed away in 2017. She leaves behind her children, Kevin (Janet) Smith, Darren (Sharon-Marie) Smith, Allison (Bruce) Stephen, her sisters, Barbara Edmunds and Dobie Edmunds, brother Bob (Linda) Edmunds as well as six granddaughters; Kayla-Marie (Jeffrey), Hayley, Kennedy (Nathan), Hannah, Lara and Ella and three grandsons; Ian, Sam and Mack and three great grandchildren; Hudson, Harper and Georgia. Gail was born and raised in Edmonton and met the love of her life, George, who she married in 1963 and went on to have and raise a family in a loving home. Gail was always active, playing badminton, tennis, golf, and an avid walker. Gail and George enjoyed spending time at the farm outside of Kinsella, summers at Mara Lake in BC and winters in Mesa Arizona where in each place, they enjoyed time with their many friends and family. Our Mom will be remembered for her enduring patience and thoughtful guidance; for her quick wit and easy smile; for her open-mindedness and her warm, giving nature. She was grateful for her family and friends and will be missed dearly. Gail was pre-deceased by her brother-in-law, Thomas King (Dobie).
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Bethany Harvest Hills for the loving care provided to our Mom.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Kinsella Community Hall, Kinsella, Alberta on September 7, 2024 at 1:00 pm.
Interment will follow at the God's Acre Cemetery, Kinsella, Alberta
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada or the Bethany Care Society in Calgary.
