Gwendolyn June Nichol passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016 at the age of 84 years at Killam, Alberta.
Gwendolyn June McLaughlin was born In 1932 in Manitoba. She married Don Nichol on December 28, 1953 and they were married for 50 years. They lived, worked and raised their family in the four western provinces. Gwen operated her own business and also worked along side Don managing rental properties in Edmonton and Kelowna. Gwen and Don retired to Viking where they renovated their home on an acreage and where they lived until they moved into town. After Don passed away in September 2004, Gwen continued to live in Viking with her pet companions Patches and Max. Gwen is survived by her five children: daughter Belinda and her husband Brian and grandson Jonathan; son Donald and his sons with Judy, grandsons Ben (wife Joanna and her great grandchildren Savannah and Slade), Matt and Chris; son Robert and grandson Justin; son Barry (Darlene) and grandsons sons, Zackary and Kyle and daughter Tammy her husband Ron and granddaughters Amber and Kristen and grandson Travis. Gwen is also survived by her brother Roger (Stella) McLaughlin and sister-in-law Beatrice McLaughlin and former daughter-in-law Judy as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gwen was predeceased by her husband Don and brother Ivan.
At the families request there is no funeral.
Inurnment will take place at the Viking Cemetery, Viking, Alberta.
