It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Ileen Amelia Brower on Wednesday May 31, 2023, at the age of 85. Ileen was born in Champion, Alberta to Sam and Christine Klein on Janurary 19, 1938. She was raised and lived much of her life in Viking.

Ileen was predeceased by her husband Ross (2002) and sons, Scott (1998) and Randy (1999). Her brother Edwin Klein (1997) and Sister Leola Nawrot (2015).

She leaves to mourn, her son Doug (Ann) Sisters Marion Armstrong and Betty Jane Allinson (Jack) and Brother Don Klein (Betty), brother in law Larry Lang, sisters in law's Agnes Brower, Marnie Simpson and Jessy Campbell (Gord) as well as numerous cousins nieces and nephews.

Ileen married the love of her life Ross Brower in Viking on June 10, 1960 and together they raised their family of three sons there. Ross was the district agent for Northwestern Utilities and Ileen quickly took over service calls message taking for him. Once her boys were in school and with the development of answering machines, Ileen began working at the Anglican/United Church office, then with FCSS and Beaver Manor in Viking. She was always active in the church, Cubs and the community. In 1997 she relocated to Edmonton to be with Ross who was assisting Randy, whom had just returned to kidney dialysis after receiving a gift of a kidney from her, in 1980. Ileen quickly became involved in her local community and the Calvary Lutheran Church in Edmonton. After the sudden losses of Scott, Randy and Ross, she settled into her new home in Edmonton and enjoyed working in her flower beds and garden. She also volunteered with several social ministry projects and generously gave back to the community. She did this by delivering unsold bread from local bakeries, to the Herb Jamison Centre and by assisting with many lunches at the Bissel Center.

Ileen also started to travel and loved traveling for many years. She'd seen many parts of the world including Alaska, Germany, Finland, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Croatia, Greece, Spain, Portugal with river cruises through the Panama Canal and one from Saint Peterburg to Moscow in Russia. Many of these trips were with her long time travel friend Edith. She also really enjoyed trips to Mazatlan to visit with Marion and Don, Yuma to visit Bill and Agnes, and several "sister's trips" to the farm, North Dakota and Mexico. She was especially fond of family reunions, on both sides. She had a wide range and network of friends and neighbors, that she held dearly.

At 83, she found her large home and yard more than she could manage and in 2021, she moved to a condo to be closer to her son Doug. Though she found the limited wall space a challenge, she continued to display all the things most important to her….faith, family and friends.

Funeral service to be held in Viking at 2:00 pm June 10, 2023 at Golden Valley Lutheran Church, and live- streamed to Calvary Lutheran Church in Edmonton (10815-76 Ave) with lunch to follow at each location.
