It is with great sadness we announce that on Sunday January 22, 2023, The Duchess, Karyn Simmons
passed away at sixty-five years young. A loving mother, wife, sister, aunty, and grandmother, she will be
so dearly missed. Karyn loved learning, whether that was through courses, her hobbies, or the people
she met throughout her day. She enjoyed sharing conversations with everyone she met and touched so
many in her unique way.

Karyn was born in Manville, Ab on September 9, 1957, to Dolores (Day) and Robert Johnson. She was
the second of five children. Allen, (Karyn), Holly, Sharon, and Wilma. She was predeceased by her
parents and her sister Holly. Karyn gave birth to her daughters, Jennifer and Jessica in Edmonton, Ab.
Karyn, Jennifer and Jessica continued to live in the Edmonton area until she was re-married to Don
Simmons in 2003, thereby growing their family to include Don's sons Brandon, Joe and Austin. Karyn and
Don moved to Hinton, Ab before making their way back to their hometown area in 2009.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Kinsella Hall on February 11, 2023, at 1 pm. Please join us in
celebrating her life and sharing great stories with great friends. Flower donations to the family can be
made to the hall for the service and donations can also be made in her name to the Canadian Cancer
Society. Thank you for all the love and support.
