It is with deep sadness that the family of Murray William Hafso announce his passing on September 25th , 2026 at the Viking Hospital.

Born in Viking Alberta on July 13 th , 1952, Murray was the eldest of three children born to Orlando (Spike) Hafso and Lorraine Hafso. Murray, better known as Murf, attended school in Viking before joining the work-force at age 17. In 1979 he began his long-time career with Northwestern Utilities/ATCO Gas. Through his employment he travelled the province, making countless good friends and memories along the way. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Orlando and Lorraine, his sister Lori Ann Ibach and nephew Kelly Sullivan.

Murray will be lovingly remembered by his family, brother Michael (Darlene); nephews Marty Sullivan (Lindsay) and Eric Hafso (Courtney); nieces Crystal Amundson (Robbie) and Jennifer Amundson (Tyler); numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

Murf loved spending time with family and friends both young and old. His red Ford truck was well known in the community. A welcome site approaching slowly down the road, either to a thirsty farmer in need of a cold beer at harvest time or a young friend happy to share his stash of chocolate bars. Murf will be remembered for his big heart and boundless generosity.

A service will be held for Murray at Golden Valley Lutheran Church in Viking on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 12:00. Burial will follow the service at the Golden Valley Lutheran Cemetery. A livestream of the service will be available through the GVLC Facebook page.
