Myrtle Ella Tiedemann
Myrtle Ella Tiedemann, the youngest daughter of Ole and Gertie Wenaas, was born on the home farm just outside of Robsart, Saskatchewan on May 5, 1930. She attended the local school, graduating with a grade 12 Diploma. She then moved to Maple Creek, Saskatchewan to work at the hospital. Later, Myrtle moved to Calgary and began a career with the Bank of Montreal. She transferred to the Camrose Branch, and while in Camrose met the love of her life, Ralph Tiedemann.
On March 8 th , 1958, Ralph and Myrtle were married at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Camrose, Alberta. The happy couple moved to Viking, where they raised 4 children: Lynn, Verna, Reg, and Byron.
Myrtle stayed at home raising her children. During these years, she baked cookies, bread, and made a loving home. Once her children all started school she went to work at Extendicare, where she worked caring for those in need for 17 years, retiring at age 60. Myrtle was a member of the Royal Purple for many years.
Myrtle and Ralph had the opportunity to travel to many places together, including 2 trips to Norway. These trips to Norway were a highlight of her life.
Ralph and Myrtle lived in Viking their entire married lives, celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary in 2021. After Ralph's passing on Sept. 24, 2021, Myrtle continued living at the Extendicare in Viking. She loved her family, and she loved visits from family and friends.
Myrtle passed away peacefully February 25, 2022, with family by her side.
Myrtle leaves to mourn her son-in-law Jim Bobyak, daughter Verna (Richard) Erickson, son Reg (Luanne) Tiedemann, son Byron Tiedemann, 12 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren, her brother Orland Wenaas, Sister Opal Lester, sisters-in-law Vera (John) Heitman and Helen Tiedemann, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ralph, her daughter Lynn, parents Ole & Gertie Wenaas, siblings Gudrun &(Chester) Johnson, Paul & (Marg) Wenaas, Ina &(Earl)Palmer, Olga & (Ira) Smith, (Marjorie) Wenaas, and Allan Lester.
A loving wife, mother, granny, great-granny, sister, aunt and friend, Myrtle will be missed by her entire family and community.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday March 8, 2022 at 2 P.M at Golden Valley Lutheran Church, with Pastor Alvin Sorenson officiating
