Norbert Steinwand was born on January 2, 1940. Parents Alexander and Else Steinwand in Kloestitiz Bessarabia, Romania.

Immigration to Canada then was made possible in April of 1950.

They rented various farm lands and landed at Ryley, Alberta where they decided to stay and Norbert purchased in 1963. In October of 1965 Norbert married Audrey Minchau.

They made this farm their home where they worked hard and raised a family. Robert Paul born May 17, 1969 and Loretta Ruth born July 5, 1972. Norbert's passion was farming. He milked cows, raised pigs, chickens, goats and horses along with producing the food for the animals. None of this an easy task, but he loved it.   Norbert had a lot of fun riding horses and said "somehow I guess, I just love it". Norbert supplemented his farm income by learning the Stucco business from his father in law. A lot of houses, fireplaces, Church's, sidewalks were all built and repaired in Central Alberta.

Norbert also worked on the Drilling rigs and ended his career at age 65 as a driller.

Norbert and Audrey raised their family involved in the Church and its' activities. They presently attend the Bruce Lutheran Church where they were married and had their children and grandchildren babtized.

Norbert worked hard with his wife to build a life on the farm. He taught his children and grandchildren how to work, patience, use of wisdom and how Gods supplies our needs and raised his family with the knowledge of God's love.

It's hard to find the words to say to sum up one's life.   We remember all the things that made you the man we called husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Norbert is survived by his wife, Audrey. Son Robert; grandchildren Gillian and Reise; Daughter Loretta (Jon); grandchildren Kathleen, Sam and Isaac; step-grandchildren Ashley (Justin) and Brett(James).
