Phyllis Eileen Squair, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016, with her family at her side, in the Viking Extendicare, at the age of 91 years. Phyllis, was born September 22, 1924, to Wilbert and Tessie Stewart at Provost, AB. Over the next number of years her family moved to Warburg, AB, Vancouver, BC, then settled in Spokane, Washington where she worked as a Medical Stenographer. She was called into the ministry in 1947, where she labored in BC. Her companions were Clara Manary, Betty Gregg, Lillian Hillaby, Gertrude West, Grace Websdale and Evelyn Anderson during this time. She was unable to continue due to poor health. After her health improved, she lived in Vancouver and worked at the Vancouver General Hospital. Phyllis met Gordon Squair at a Sunday morning Fellowship Meeting, and they were married October 18, 1957 in Spokane, Washington. After marriage they farmed together in Viking area. In 1958, they started their family of 3 sons and 1 daughter. After raising her family she obtained her Home Care Certificate and enjoyed providing care for old and young alike.
Phyllis is Loved and Remembered by their Children Gordon (Mona) of Yorkton, SK; Dale (Shirley) of Viking, AB; Kevin (Alana) of Viking, AB; Cheryl (Calvin) Bystrom of Linden, AB; Grandchildren Anthony (Katie) Squair of Clyde, AB; Deanne Hood of Red Deer, AB; Lorisa (Clint) Upham of Kitscoty, AB; Durwin (Iana) Squair of Viking, AB; Nadine (Ryan) LeBlanc of Lloydminster, AB; Darren (Lynette) Squair of Leduc, AB; Kalena (Richard) Christenson of Kingman, AB; Craig Squair of Viking, AB; Logan Bystrom (Sarah Bertram) of Carbon, AB; Brian Bystrom (Katie Marsh) of Spruce Grove, AB; Shaelynne Bystrom of Linden, AB. Many Great-Grandchildren. Sister Alvena (Roy) McLeod of Moosomin, SK; many nieces and nephews, friends and special friend Hazel Little.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; brothers & sisters in law Allan (Dell) Stewart, Bernard Stewart; sisters and brothers in law Willa (Willie) McFadden and Iris (Stanley) Hood.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 29, 2016 at 11:00 A.M.
at the Kinsella Community Centre, Kinsella, Alberta with Merlin Affleck, Mildred Ausenhus and Valerie Colli officiating. Graveside Service LaDawn and Aaron Farough officiating. Interment at God's Acre Cemetery, Kinsella, Alberta.
