Ralph was born April 20, 1926 on the family farm west of Tofield, the second child of Ed and May Tiedemann. Ralph grew up working on the family farm. In 1953, Ralph began his career with Northwestern Utilities Limited in Edmonton. He was transferred out to the Kinsella Gasfield, where he workedas a Field Operator. On March 8th, 1958, Ralph married the love of his life, Myrtle Wenaas, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Camrose. The happy couple moved to Viking, where they raised 4 children: Lynn, Verna, Reg, and Byron. They lived in Viking their entire married lives, celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary in 2021.

Ralph was a respected member of the Viking community, actively involved in scouting, the Lions Club, the Elks Club, and the Masons. He retired from Northwestern Utilities Limited in April of 1986, after 33 years of service.

Ralph loved music. While on the family farm, he played drums in the family band, The Tiedemann Harmoneers. He was an accomplished musician who played a multitude of instruments including piano, guitar, drums, and violin. He instilled a love of music in his family, where singing and playing music together as a family were a regular part of home life.

Woodworking was a hobby Ralph enjoyed. He could often be found out in his workshop spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them how to make birdhouses, model wagons, wooden bowls and cups, as well as a wide variety of other projects. Even during his time at Vialta Lodge, Ralph had a workshop where he spent his time creating projects of various designs.

Ralph also loved playing cribbage. He taught his children how to play the game at an early age and continued to play regularly throughout his life. A highlight of family visits for him was the opportunity to bring out the crib board and enjoy a few games.

Ralph passed away peacefully on September 24 th , 2021, with family present. He is survived by his loving wife Myrtle, daughter Verna (Richard) Erickson, son Reg (Luanne) Tiedemann, son Byron Tiedemann, and son in law Jim Bobyak 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Ed and May Tiedemann, daughter Lynn (Jim) Bobyak, brother Richard Tiedemann, brother Bert Tiedemann, and sister Elsie (Bronk) Gray.

A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Ralph will be missed by his entire family and community.
