Roland Joseph Couture, age 84, went to be with his Lord, while surrounded by his family; on Nov 27, 2017 in Edmonton, Alberta.
Roland was born on a farm near Coderre, Saskatchewan on June 4, 1933; to wonderful parents Evangeliste Couture and Yvonne Michel. Roland had three sisters and one brother. Two older sisters, Alice and Fern; and younger siblings Gisele and Roger.
In April 1952, Roland started working for Alberta Government Telephones as a clerk in their print shop. He worked various positions up until 1980, when he accepted the position of Regional Manager for northern Alberta and moved his family to Grande Prairie. Roland retired in July 1987 after 35 years of dedicated service.
On February 6, 1954 Roland married Norma Lawes in Edmonton, Alberta. Together they had 8 children. 5 sons and 3 daughters. David, Marion, Philip, Richard, Larry, Peter, Teresa and Fran. Roland will forever be remembered by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even great-great grandchildren.
Roland was a kind, loving man who will always be remembered for the love he had for his family and his faith in God. His giving heart and his acceptance of everyone he loved will forever live in our hearts and help to shape the legacy of the Couture family.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Golden Valley Lutheran Church,
Viking, Alberta, Saturday, December 2, at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Alvin Sorenson officiating. Interment will be at the Viking Cemetery, Viking, Alberta. There will be a time of viewing before the service from 9:00 A.M. to 9:45 A.M. .
