It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ronald Lester Shippy announces his peaceful passing on September 3, 2025, at the age of 80 years.
Ron was a devoted husband, beloved father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. He shared 59 loving years of marriage with his wife and life partner, Carole (Cumming) Shippy, and together they raised three children: Rhonda Shippy, Shelley (Grant) Anderson, and Paul (Melissa) Shippy.
Ron's pride and joy were his grandchildren: Katie, Mitchell, and Christopher Anderson, and Maya and Jude Shippy, bringing him immense happiness.
He is survived by his loving sister, Irene (Peter) Schurman, as well as many dear nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He also leaves behind his Uncle Vern (Dorothy) Shippy and many cousins. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Vance Shippy and Patricia Robinson.
Born and raised on a farm north of Irma, Alberta, Ron learned the value of hard work, resourcefulness, and integrity at a young age. A true jack-of-all-trades, he developed skills in welding, carpentry, and mechanics, always building and fixing things. He bought his first semi at the age of 22 and carried a lifelong love for trucks, cars, and anything with an engine.
Ron had a deep appreciation for nature and animals, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends. He also loved music, and was well known for telling long, colorful stories.
Above all, Ron will be remembered for his honesty, trustworthiness, and strong sense of character. His word was his bond, and those who knew him could always count on him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Inurnment will take place at Kinsella Cemetery at a later date.
