Shirley Marie Ronjom

Shirley was a loving and devoted mother, grandma, and great grandma. She made an impact on all who knew her because of her kindness and spirit.

Shirley was born on August 28th, 1950 to Ross and Gert Haeberle. She was the second eldest. Ross and Gert raised 5 children: Sharon, Shirley aka Cork, Brian, Judy, and Charles. The family lived on the farm at Torlea until the older girls were married, at which time the family moved into Viking. Shirley married Wayne Ronjom in the spring of 1967. Later, a daughter, Tammy Lynn was born. During the early years of their marriage, the young family lived on the Ronjom farm by Jarrow. Shirley spent many hours working on the farm and raising her daughter. In 1971, Shirley and Wayne welcomed their second child in to the world, Troy Wayne. By this time, they had purchased a small house in Irma across from the Irma School. Shirley and Wayne eventually purchased an acreage on the outskirts of Irma. While the children grew up, Shirley dabbled in many hobbies looking for a way to stay busy. She took typing classes, hair cutting classes, and cooking classes. Shirley loved and collected cookbooks. She cultivated many good friends in Irma. She began working at McFarlands General Store, and after Ross McFarland closed his store, she later took a position at the Irma Coop. When her children were grown, she took a position at the Viking hospital in housekeeping services. Shirley worked there until she retired in 2013. Shirley became a grandma in 1991 and eventually had 5 grandchildren. She became a great grandma in 2020. Her grandchildren have endless fond memories of spending time with their Nana. Shirley passed away at her home in Viking on Saturday November 5, 2022.

She leaves behind her dear friend and companion of 16 years Terry Meakins, her children Tammy and Troy and their families, as well as her sisters and brothers and their families.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday , November 10, 2022 at the Kinsella Senior Center, Kinsella, Alberta at 3:00 P.M.
