Stanley Marko – Viking, Alberta October 1, 1931 – May 2, 2017
Stan Marko passed away in Viking, Alberta May 2, 2017, surrounded by loving family at the age of 85 years.
Stan was born in Kopernick, Alberta south of Holden Alberta, to parents Nicholas and Nancy Marko. Stan was the youngest son to Nick and Nancy.
Stan grew up on the farm, surrounded by a large family of 12 brothers and sisters. Stan had many fond memories of growing up on the farm.
Stan worked for Alberta Transportation for 35 years. Started out grading the roads in 1958, and retired at the young age of 55, after a long successful career. Stan took pride in keeping the roads safe and dry in the winter time, for travelers. Many people would phone Stan to see how the roads were before they headed out in the winter.
Stan married the love of his life, Doris Williams on July 19, 1958 in Holden, Alberta at the Holden Ukrainian Catholic Church. Stan and Doris were blessed with 5 children, Chris, Nancy, Ricky, Luanne and Stuart.
Stan loved to spend time with his family. He loved to camp, play music, travel, and loved the Rocky Mountains. He and Doris and the family had many, many summer vacations to Radium Hot Springs and many other beautiful mountain spots. His love of nature and the mountains has been passed on to his children and grandchildren. He also loved music, and loved to play the accordion, and in his younger days, the violin with his brother Nick, and played at many dances. Camping, hunting, fishing and golf were all of some of Stan's favourite things to do. Once Doris retired, spending time with her, and traveling to see his kids and grandkids, were the most important things they did together. Weekly trips to Camrose for groceries, or Wainwright and Killam for Coffee were how they enjoyed spending their days.
Stan will be lovingly missed by Doris and his family very much.
Stan is survived by his loving wife Doris, his son Chris (Shannon) Marko, daughter, Nancy (Mike) Frissell, son, Rick (Tracey) Marko, Luanne (Russ) Carl, son Stu (Eve) Marko. His beloved grandchildren, Shaun (Cassie) , Jenn ( David ) , Coby ( Ashlie) , Brett ( Jaden) , Jessica (Cody), Brooklyn ( Steven ), Aubrey, Taylor and Avery. His beautiful great grandchildren, Cora, Cooper, Cohen and Harper, and his Sisters, Rose Fornal, Elsie Laderoute and Doris Day.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Holy Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Saturday May 6,at 11:30 A.M. Viking, Alberta with Reverent Father Lian Vu as Celebrant. Committal at the Viking Cemetery, Viking, Alberta.
