Verna (Randall) WARMAN Obituary
Verna Warman passed away peacefully on April 21, 2015 at Extendicare, Viking, Alberta,
with her youngest son, Wendell and daughter-in-law Margaret at her side.
Verna was born in Upper Gagetown, New Brunswick, January 4, 1909, the eldest of fifteen
children born to Bliss and Sylvia Randall.
Verna married Ansel Warman of Upper Gagetown N.B. on July 25, 1928. They had seven
children, four boys and three girls.
Her husband, Ansel, died on March 13, 2003 at the age of 95, four months short of their
75th. wedding anniversary.
Verna has six surviving siblings, one in N.B., one in Ontario, one in Alberta, and three in B.C.
She is also survived by her daughters Elva Walton at Woodstock, N.B., Barbara
(Paschen) in Queensland, Australia, near Brisbane. and four sons in Western Canada; the
eldest son, Vernon (Betty), in Merritt, B.C., Eldon, also in Merritt, B.C. , Gordon (Marion),
in Grenfell, Sask.; and Wendell (Margaret), in Viking, Alberta. Verna is also survived by 21
grandchildren 37 Great Grand Children and their families, who are the fifth generation.
She was predeceased by her husband Ansel, eldest daughter Ina, daughter-in laws Chevala
and Ruth, son-in-laws John, Dave and Herb and precious grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Verna and her late husband, Ansel, came from New Brunswick to Viking, AB in 1995 to be
near their youngest son, Wendell for their Twilight Years and support they might need.
After enjoying a year on the acreage with Wendell and Margaret declining health necessitated
change.They moved into Vialta Lodge in Viking. They spent several years at Vialta Lodge and
then at Extendicare,
Viking.
Verna read many, many books, until even after her 100th. birthday, when her eyesight deteriorated
to the point where she could not see the words. She had read almost every large print
romance novel in the Viking Library and often finished one from cover to cover in a day.
Verna enjoyed peace and quiet in her room, church and Bible Study and visits from family
and friends, recalling stories and memories from her childhood years. Verna's goal was to
outlive her father who was 106 when he died. She accomplished this by some three months.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on June 7th. at Viking Funeral Services Chapel.
